Hardwood floors react to the air circulation within your living space! In colder, outdoor temperatures, requiring you to turn on your heat, the wood will contract. During hotter outdoor temperatures, requiring a cooler indoor temperature the hardwood floors will expand. There is a line of product called Bona which will help keep your floors in great shape year round. You may purchase this product at most home improvement stores. 

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is one of the best and easiest surfaces to maintain. Even with a high possibility of smudges, due to its demand, specialized cleaning products can be found almost anywhere! Though more costly, black stainless steel appliances can give an even sleeker look and is also smudge-proof.  

 

Granite Countertops

Granite surfaces are our favorites. Not only are they absolutely beautiful and unique, this surface is also pretty easy to maintain and most importantly, they are virtually indestructible. For the most part, granite can be cleaned by using warm water. To add a nice luster, granite polish can be purchased almost anywhere cleaning supplies are sold.

Luckily, newer models tend to be more energy efficient. If you tend use your wood burning fireplace in colder months, having it professionally cleaned helps with the longevity of you investment.
